Born in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo. I left when I was 12. Although I haven’t had a chance to return back, I still feel like it’s my responsibility to help my country as much as I can.
In the past year, I was able to donate food to 5 Orphans locations and feed over 200 kids. My new goal is to at least feed 2 or more orphan locations quarterly on a consistent basis. What I have learned in the past, it takes at least $300 to provide a meal for two weeks for 1 Orphan location (with at least 30 kids).
More than 4 million children have lost at least one parent in Congo over the past two decades, the silent victims of continuous cycles of violence. More than 26 million orphans live in West and Central Africa, where Congo is located - the second highest number in the world behind South Asia, according to the United Nations.
There are several reasons why it is important for children to eat properly. Benefits such as improving academic performance, maintaining a healthy weight, improving mental health, providing essential vitamins and minerals, and reducing the risk of chronic diseases like diabetes and heart disease. Therefore, in the long run the kids benefit from this foundation.
My goal is to help the new generation of kids in my native country. As a young kid, My parents were blessed with the opportunity to come to the United States and as a child who was able to live alongside them here in the states it is my responsibility to reach back and give to those who do not have the same fortune.
This donation will contribute to bringing some relief to the suffering of vulnerable young people; most of whom are orphans or children who were abandoned and then taken care of by charitable organizations. Items like rice, beans, detergent, oil, milk, sugar, and soap will go a long way in day to day life for the kids.
